Elect Carl Sprayberry for State House District 139
Honesty. Integrity. Transparency.
Join us today in building a better Georgia.
We appreciate your support and hope to see you at the polls in November.
This election is about improving healthcare for Georgians, protecting reproductive and family rights, increasing transit options and road safety, increasing housing availability, and undoing years of backwards policies that have stymied educational and economic opportunities in Muscogee and Harris County.
Carl's Priorities
- Carl is committed to pushing for expanded Medicare coverage for over a half million Georgia residents as well as improving access to Peachcare so parents can rest assured knowing that their toddlers are covered during their critical formative years. Expanding healthcare is his top priority and he has draft legislation already ready to bring forth his very first day in the state house on this matter.
- Carl is the only candidate in this race who will push for the construction of more affordable housing and rezoning to allow for mixed-use development.
- Carl intends to introduce an amendment to the state’s constitution to prevent any incumbent governor or other statewide office holder from neglecting their duty by announcing a bid for the presidency and spending their time in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada instead of being here working. The governorship isn’t a launching board for higher office. We can’t be like Florida and let it be treated as such.
- Carl is focused on further reducing crime rates in the state through improved, smarter policing and working with communities to improve economic opportunities that have proven successful in other jurisdictions at reducing gang involvement.
- In 2022, there were 2,687 overdose deaths in Georgia, with about 64% of those deaths due to synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. Carl will get funding to help drug addicts get into rehabilitation and offer follow-up services to help them stay sober, as well as going after the drugs coming into this state through online market places and drug dealers.
- Carl will support decriminalizing marijuana which will allow dispensaries to legally sale marijuana that hasn’t been cut with deadly drugs such as fent or cocaine.
- Carl is pro-environment and will promote more transit options through the area, go after the biggest air and waterway polluters in the state, and will establish a deadline for the closure of the state’s two remaining coal plants (Plant Scherer and Plant Bowen).
- Carl will enshrine reproductive rights into Georgia law, protecting a woman's right to bodily autonomy, protecting the right to contraceptives, and protecting invitro fertilization. The overturn of the Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court ignored nearly 50 years of legal precedent, and the Court wrote new law from the bench, something they are not allowed to do by the Constitution. Reproductive care should be between a woman and her doctor, not nine unelected Judges who ignore legal precedent.

Message to Carmen Rice
My opponent Carmen Rice does not have the priorities of the state in mind. She wants to give corporations and millionaires more tax breaks and is opposed to raising the minimum wage for the state’s residents. She’s anti-union. She is backing Donald Trump, the only president since Herbert Hoover who had a net loss of jobs occur on his watch, so I can’t even begin to take her claims of being “pro-business” with even the slightest bit of seriousness. Trickle-down economics (the tax policy that was thought of by Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Arthur Laffer – all serving as advisors to then-President-by-accident Gerald Ford – over dinner in 1974) have failed, period. Tax cuts for the rich do not generate any economic boost for the rest of the country. It doesn’t spur job creation. All it actually does is worsen wealth inequality and destroy the middle-class. We have over 40 years of economic data that shows that. There’s a reason why every Republican president has a recession start on their hands, while no Democrat president since Jimmy Carter has had one start on their watch. That’s a result of Democrats being better stewards of the economy.
Carmen proclaims that she is an “America First” candidate. To put it simply, that is a slogan derived by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s. It’s racist and antisemetic. My words to Rep. Rice: The last Klan rally in this district happened in 1979, with the despicable David Duke leading it. You’re spouting hateful rhetoric that we left in the past 45 years ago. If you didn’t know where that slogan came from, now you know. So stop using it.
Rice has stated she is anti-abortion even in the case of rape or underaged children who are victims of incest. That’s just morally repugnant. No woman, especially a child, should be forced to birth their rapist’s offspring, period. The vast majority of Americans – even those who say they are pro-life – support exceptions for cases of rape and incest, but not Rep. Rice. She is an extremist who is out of touch with Americans. It honestly sickens me that she tries to disguise her sickening views under a guise of “pro-life”. It has been found that 94% of women who are raped experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during the two weeks following the rape, 33% of women who are raped contemplate suicide, and 13% of women who are raped attempt suicide. Now just what do you think those numbers are going to look like if you start forcing victims to give birth to their rapist’s offspring? I can tell you: Suicides among rape victims will climb exponentially. There’s nothing “pro-life” about driving more women into committing suicide, Rep. Rice.
Rice says she’s running on “securing the border”, but I really want to know what border. You want to build a wall between Georgia and Florida or something, Rep. Rice? Between Columbus and Phenix City? Maybe you want to build a wall and keep South Carolinans from going to Savannah or something? You’re a state representative of a state that’s 800 miles away from the US-Mexico border. “Securing the border” is literally not something you’d have any involvement in as a Georgia state representative. You either need to get your priorities straight or get out of the state legislature. You want to worry about “the border”? Then move to a border state.
You do support the construction of I-14, but other than that, I don’t see any pro-transit or pro-infrastructure ideas coming from you. I’m the pro-transit candidate in this race.
And finally, let me be clear on this: Your support of Donald Trump and his repeated claims of election fraud in the state are unfounded and downright anti-American. He lost the election. He then called up Secretary of State Bradford Raffensperger and Governor Brian Kemp to try to get them to throw out votes in Fulton County. Trump spent his August 3rd, 2024, rally crying that they wouldn’t cheat for him. And you were at that rally. You stayed as he spouted this anti-American and pro-election fraud rhetoric. If I beat you, will you concede as I did to the late-Richard Smith the night of the election? Or are you going to besmirch Rep. Smith’s legacy by claiming that there was election fraud?
